Musician
Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, I began playing Drums professionally in a local rock band called The Ravens, which soon evolved into a serious songwriting collaboration known as The Household Saints, a popular Rock/Pop group that enjoyed great local success from 1992 to 2000. These were good beginnings to have because they included recording a CD at Sundae Sound (Gravity), as well as an array of diverse and memorable shows such as: Taking the stage before “The Headpins” at The Back Alley; a wrap up party for the cast and crew of Lonesome Dove (the TV Series) ; Pit Band for a Yuk Yuks comedy festival show at Cowboys; and of course many a rowdy evening for the faithful at favorite club stops: Mission Bridge Brewing Company in Calgary, The Drake Hotel in Canmore and the Rose & Crown Pub in Banff.
Soon after “The Saints” union ran it’s course, I found myself in the good company of hard rock group “My Mother Grooves” (2001 -- 2003), a regular fixture on Calgary’s local bar scene that frequented Morgan’s Pub, Buckinghams Pub, The Rusty Cage (North & South), The King’s Head, Joker’s Pub, and The Rose and Crown (Banff).
After a 5 year hiatus from playing music I managed to fall back into the saddle for a limited run with Brian Mason and The Arrivals, helping to flesh out a uniquely retro-rock sound in support of Singer/songwriter Brian Mason’s CD “Almost There”. Several performances included local venues like The Engineered Air Theatre (Calgary’s Epcor Center), and The Unicorn.
It was in the summer of 2010 while performing a couple shows with “Alex Boisselle’s Ashbury Train” (The Ironwood, Palomino) that I decided it was time to find a musical home again, something in the form of an original collaboration I could feel inspired by. The bands that resonate the most with me are those with a modern day Indie Rock sensibility, and what came next was the added twist reminiscent of bands from the 90′s rock era, boldly serving up power-pop melodies laced with sonic rock riffs.
That transitional moment became the impetus for eventually crossing paths with Jonathan Duquette (Jonny Dukes) and Joelle Voit (Jojo) who shared a similar vision, one which has since culminated in The Birth of Power Trio PARIS ENVY . . . and so at this point it seems my best days as a Musician still lie ahead as the music we make together is quickly taking shape in the recording studio for a 12 song album to be released in July 2011, and our Live show is gradually gaining momentum with some attention grabbing gigs around calgary at Morgan’s Pub, The Rusty Cage South, The Voodoo Lounge, The Unicorn Pub, Shooters Bar & Grill, and The Blind Beggar. We can also be seen at our favorite saturday jam mingling with some of calgary’s finest Blues and Country Rock performers down at The Ironwood, throwing our unique brand of Power-Pop/Rock originals into the mix. Special Thanks to The Ironwood and Blueswack for making those saturday jams a fun and memorable experience and a good time for all !
